Amebic Dysentery is also known as intestinal amebiasis. Amebic Dysentery is

caused by the protozoan entamoeba histolytica and is transmitted by the ingestion of food

or water that have been handlyed by the unwashed hands of an infected person with the

infective organism. Amebic dysentery is usually much more chronic and insidious and is

more difficult to treat because the causative organism occurs in two forms, a motile one

and a cyst, each of which produce a different disease course.
