    About myself and my family

    My name is Vadim Petrov. I was born on the fourth of April 1991. I am 17 years old. I finished secondary school. I did not serve in the army. I passed exams and became a student of Novosibirsk State Water Transport Academy. Now I am a first-year student. I study at hydrotechnical department. In five years I will become an engineer.

    My family is not very big. It consists of four people: my mother, my father, my sister and me. My parents are 38 years old. My father works at the Port of Yakutsk. He is an engineer. My mother works at a hospital. She is a doctor and likes her profession.

    My elder sister Anna is 21 years old. She is married. Her husband graduates economic University this year. They have a two-year-old son. My grandparents are pensioners and do not work any more.

    I am single. Now, I live in Novosibirsk in a hostel. My interests are very different. I go in for sports. I am fond of computers and music and I like reading.

13. Прочитайте и переведите текст.

My free time

    There is plenty to do in my free time. I enjoy sport most of all. My favourite sport is hockey. Almost all my friends go in for this kind of sport. We attend hockey section. There we train hard. Also we play for the University and in different regional tournaments.

    As most young people I spend my free time at home watching TV, listening to music or reading. We also have a computer at home, so I spend much time playing computer games.

    Most young people spend some time outdoors. We meet in streets and talk and then go to the center of the city to go for a walk. In winter we go skiing in the forest or in some park. Sometimes we go skating at the skating-rink and play hockey. In summer when it is hot, we go to the beach and lie in the sun.

    Like many other people, I enjoy traveling. I visited the Altai last year, also I went to Moscow and St Petersburg some years ago. My friends traveled to Egypt, Italy and Spain. And I hope I will travel there too.

    Sometimes we go to the disco or to a party. I like to dance and enjoy watching other people dancing, too. We also go to the concerts of musicians when they come to our city. I play the guitar a little and my friend plays drums.

    As for another popular hobby, collecting things, I don’t collect anything. But some of my friends collect different things: coins, stamps, badges, autographs of famous people. Some of girls collect soft toys, magnets for a fridge, souvenirs and post cards.

    So, as you see, there are a lot of hobbies and there is no time to be bored. If you want to do something interesting, there is always a great choice of pastimes.
