I am writing to you so that you will address the growing problem of the poor and

homeless in America. Although I m sure you are well aware of the problem, we, The New

Progressive Party, have different ideas about correcting it. Our first solution is for

government to regulate housing and utilities. If the government did this they could control

the cost of housing as well as the cost of living. They could regulate it in such a way that

minimum wage employees would be able to afford it, therefore giving the homeless

homes, and the poor some extra cash. Another idea that we have is for the welfare

program to be enhanced, working class people only need welfare to help them in-between

jobs, so the quantity should be increased and amount of money should be increased.

Additionally, we believe that drugs play a major part in many peoples homelessness,

therefore, if we eliminate the drug problem a large part of the homeless and poor problem

will disappear. In order to eliminate the drug problem government must get all of the

addicts into prisons, taking all the drugs with them because the demand for them will be in

the prisons. This will also eliminate many juveniles becoming involved with drugs. We
