Terrorist attack in Taraz

Organizers of the terrorist attack in Taraz planned the murder of police officers in details. Their purpose was to “create the Islamic state”. Leader of the criminal group preached and impressed the ideas of jihad, Tengrinews.kz reports citing official representative of the General Prosecution Office as saying at the briefing on November 30. 
 
“On November 6 details of the armed attacks on police officers were discussed in this apartment (where two Kariyev's accomplices lived). The attacks were scheduled by the spiritual leader for November 12. The leader drew the plans of the buildings of the oblast's National Security Department and Taraz city administration. Kariyev was appointed the executor of the act. Attack on "Make and K" arms shop for obtaining the arms before the attack on the governmnet buildings and police officers was also part of the plan,” official representative said. 
 
According to him, the leader of the criminal group covered himself with religious ideas, called himself a spiritual mentor and preached the ideas of jihad and murder of the officers of law-enforcement authorities to the group in the name of creation of the Islamic state. 
 
“Following the group's idea, with the help of other group members Kariyev bought RPG-26 grenade launcher, as well as RGD-5 grenade , PM gun, two sawed-off guns and small-caliper shoulder arm. Kariyev stored all the weapons at his place then moved them to the apartment where 2 other accomplices lived,” the Prosecutor said. 
 
Law-enforcement authorities found out who Kariyev bought the grenade launcher from. The investigation found the person who sold it to the seller. The first seller said he found it in a deserted area. The owner of Mazda who drove Maksat Kariyev to the arms shop was also a member of the group, he was apprehended as well. On November 11 the group moved the weapons to a garage. 
 
“In the morning of November 12 the group members loaded all the weapons into the car and Kariyev started his criminal actions dressed up like the employee of Kazakhtelecom and after saying goodbye to his mates,” prosecution representative said. 
 
Jihadist Maksat Kariyev committed the terrorist attack in Taraz on November 12. 7 people fell victims to the crime, five of them were police officers. The criminal blew himself up during apprehension. 

Nursultan Nazarbayev promised to deal with the terrorist attack in Taraz, Tengrinews.kzreports citing official website of Kazakhstan President. On November 14 the President held a meeting on countering religious extremism and terrorism. 
 
“The state has all capabilities, powers, professionalism and abilities to suppress any manifestation of terrorism against Kazakhstan. I am also calling all the Kazakhstan residents to stay vigilant. In case of noticing any such manifestations, I am calling the residents to immediately inform law-enforcement authorities. We will deal with what happened in Taraz and enhance our work in all directions,” the President said. 
 
The President emphasized that police and officers of other law-enforcement authorities showed a good example of serving the State and showed real heroism. The Presidentexpressed condolences to the families of the victims.  
 
Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that terrorism manifests itself in many countries of the world, including safe Europe, and Kazakhstan is not an exception.
